It will support DMK candidates in 36 constituencies and Congress candidates in 3

A little over a month after it extended support to the AIADMK in the Lok Sabha elections, the Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamaath has withdrawn its support to the ruling party, upset at Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s silence on some key issues concerning Muslims mentioned in the BJP’s manifesto.

The decision was taken at the executive committee meeting here on Tuesday.

The TNTJ has decided to support the DMK and its allies in 36 constituencies and Congress candidates in three constituencies. In Puducherry, it would neither support the Pattali Makkal Katchi nor the All India N. R. Congress. The TNTJ would request its members to vote as per their conscience in Puducherry.
