Thank people, Jayalalithaa urges her party legislators

May 19, 2011 11:34 pm | Updated August 21, 2016 07:58 pm IST - Chennai:

Chief Minister and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) general secretary Jayalalithaa has urged party MLAs and those who lost the elections to thank people in their respective constituencies personally.

In a statement here on Thursday, she also counselled them to avoid ostentation while doing so and wanted this exercise carried out with total austerity.

She was also categorical that they should avoid organising public meetings in this regard. But, they should go to all places in their constituency and convey their heart-felt thanks to the electorate. All office-bearers of the party of the constituency concerned should accompany both the victorious and unsuccessful candidates. If the public were to represent any grievances, the MLAs should take them up with the officials and find early redress.
