Thanjavur Collector pats state topper

“Srinath has earned laurels for Thanjavur” said C.Suresh Kumar, District Collector in charge, Thanjavur district here on Monday.

He presented a shawl and a book in appreciation of P.Srinath, who came first in the state in SSLC (tenth) examinations for which results were declared on Monday. Srinath, a student of Ponnaiyah Ramajayam Public School came first in the state scoring 497 out of 500. He got centum in four subjects-Maths, English, science and social studies and 97 in Tamil.

Suresh Kumar said that 497 was the highest marks ever scored by a student in the tenth standard examinations in the state.

The DRO said that Thanjavur district recorded 90.24 per cent of passing out in the tenth exams. A total of 36,739 students appeared for the exams out of which 33,153 passed out. A total of 18,073 boys appeared for the exams out of which15,931 passed out recording 88.14 per cent. A total of 18,666 girls appeared for the exams out of which 17,222 passed out recording 92.26 per cent.

While Srinath who came as the state first is the district topper also, R. Monisha of Sacred Heart Higher Secondary school came second in the district scoring 494 marks out of 500. She got 98 in Tamil, 98 in English, 98 in Maths, hundred in science and hundred in social studies.

Six students shared the district third rank. Out of them three students are from Kamala Subramaniyam Matriculation Higher Secondary school. They are R.Prasanna, G.Dharini and R.Yazhini. They scored 493 out of 500. Other three students who got the third rank in the district scoring 493 are R.Aravind of Don Bosco Matriculation Higher Secondary school, Hajira Nasreen of Immaculate Matriculation school, Thiruvaiyaru, and Vigneswaran of Maxwell Matriculation Higher Secondary school, Thanjavur.

Suresh Kumar appreciated all the students for their good performance.
