Thanjavur accounts for 45 students in top three ranks

It seems that candidates from Thanjavur district have reaped a windfall in terms of State rankings in the SSLC examination results of which were declared on Thursday. Forty five candidates from Thanjavur schools have had podium finish at the State-level. The district pass percentage has also increased to 94.18, up by 1.50 percentage points over that of the last year.

While four girls have scored 499 out of 500 marks to top the chart, 14 have secured 498 to bag the second spot and 27 got one mark less to be ranked third in the State. A total of 37,374 candidates from 394 schools appeared for the SSLC examination last March and among them 35,200 have cleared the examinations successfully.

Ruckshita of Brindavan HSS, Sukkiranpatti, secured 499 marks to seal a spot among the State toppers list. The 14 candidates in the runners up scroll for the district are A. Safa of the Government Girls HSS, Madukkur, A. Aparna, S. Datchayini and A. Muralikannan all from Best Matric HSS, Thanjavur, R. Nandhini and T. Vigneswari of Brindhavan HSS, Sukkiranpatti, N. Sivaranjani of Sacred Heart Girls HSS, Thanjavur, K. Vidyalaxmi of Kalyanasundaram HSS, Thanjavur, T. Rizvana Begum of Kalaimagal HSS, Vallam, A.S. Muralidharan of Don Bosco Matric HSS, Thanjavur, R. Madhumitha of Sri Krishna Matric School, Ooranipuram, B. Haripriya of Kamala Subramanian Matric HSS, Thanjavur, B. Dharani of Yagappa Matric HSS, Thanjavur, and S. Bhavadharani of St. Isabel's Girls HSS, Pattukkottai.

As for the centum marks in subjects, four candidates have secured the maximum 100 marks in language, 45 in English, 731 in Mathematics, 4,191 in Science while 1,945 students have secured centum in Social Science.

Of the 394 schools from which students appeared for the SSLC exams in the district, 151 schools have achieved the sterling distinction of 100 per cent pass and they include 60 government schools. Among the private educational institutions, students of the Best Matric HSS, Thanjavur, ran up the coveted 1-2-3 to secure an entry each in the first three positions in the exams.
