Personnel attached to All Women Police Station, Vaniyambadi on Saturday arrested a 17-year-old boy for sexually assaulting a six-year-old girl in Jalathapuram.
Police said the boy, who was a neighbour, used to play with the child and her three-year-old brother regularly. On Friday evening, when the girl was playing outside her house, the boy took her to a nearby plot and sexually assaulted her.
The child had returned home crying in pain, and informed her mother. She was taken to the Vaniyambadi government hospital, and doctors informed the police. The girl’s parents also lodged a complaint. Following this, the boy was arrested and booked under POCSO Act, police said.- Staff Reporter
