Techie held for attacking woman

He also morphed her pictures, posted them on social media for spurning his love

The city police arrested a 24-year-old software professional a native of Vijayawada, for attacking a woman engineer who spurned his love. He also posted morphed images of the woman on social media and mobile messaging networks.

Police said the 25-year-old woman engineer, also a native of Vijayawada, was working in an IT firm in Sholinganallur and staying in a women’s hostel.

She was in love with Venkata Seshaya Satwick, working in an IT company in Mugaliwakkam.

However, she ended the relationship after doubts over his character and started avoiding him.

An irate Satwick posted morphed images of the woman on social media.

Last month, the victim lodged a complaint with the Kannagi Nagar police. After the police registered a case against Satwick, they accessed his pen drive and mobile phones which contained photos of the woman.

Repeat offender

He later obtained anticipatory bail from the Madras High Court.

Satwick once again posted indecent pictures of the woman on social media.

Two days ago, the victim went to his house in Krishnaveni Nagar, Mugalivakkam, and told him to stop harassing her.

However, Satwick attacked her, the police said.

Following a complaint, the Mangadu police arrested Satwick and booked a case against him under Sections 294(b) (utters any obscene song, ballad or words), 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 506 (ii) (Criminal Intimidation) of the IPC and Section 4 of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act.
