Teachers’ tough role appreciated

Dr. Pauls Engineering College lecturers were congratulated for imparting education to students of diverse cultures

Highlighting the complex task before teachers in imparting education to students of diverse cultural identities, S. Ganesan, Registrar, Anna University, congratulated the teachers of the Dr. Pauls Engineering College in Villupuram district, at its Graduation Day ceremony on March 14. He issued degree certificates to the students.

Principal Y. R. M Rao presented the college academic report for the year 2014-15. The ceremony was also attended by Managing Director S. R. S Paul and Dean E. Mariappanee.

Plea to enhance grant-in-aid to RIVER

At the Annual Day celebrations held on March 6 at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Veterinary Education and Research (RIVER), Puducherry, S. Velmurugan, Chairman, Pondicherry Veterinary College Society, requested P. Karthikeyan, MLA, to place a demand to the Chief Minister for enhancement of grant-in-aid to the institute in the next budget estimate.

At the event, chief guest Col. S.K. Nair promised to work out modalities to start a NCC unit in the RIVER for the benefit of students. The celebrations also saw the release of magazine FONTANE. Awards were distributed to students who excelled in sports, arts and literary competitions. The students also got to show their creative side in cultural programmes. Institute Dean Dr. B. Ramesh Kumar presented the annual report and Ashok Unni, Speaker, Students’ Council, presented the year’s activities. Dr. Stacy Daniella Sequeira was given the Chief Secretary’s cash award and rolling trophy for securing the highest marks in the Junior Research Fellowship Exam conducted by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, said a release from the institute.

700 get placements

in job fair

At the job fair conducted on March 7 by the Manakula Vinayagar Institute of Technology, Puducherry, in association with Top Fresher, Chennai, more than 700 candidates received offer letters, and more than 500 were shortlisted for the next round of the interview process from around 1800 candidates, said a release from the institute.

More than 30 IT and core companies from Chennai and Puducherry participated, with candidates from the last three batches of engineering and diploma courses.
