Teacher granted bail

November 25, 2015 12:00 am | Updated November 26, 2015 12:45 pm IST - NAMAKKAL:

Mahila Court Judge S. Manvizhi granted conditional bail to the municipal middle school teacher R. Vijayalakshmi (35), who was arrested for forcing a Dalit boy to clean excreta in the school on November 13.

After her bail plea was dismissed on November 19, her lawyers moved the bail application for the second time on Monday. They argued that she needed continuous medical attention and said that the case had been registered owing to enmity. They also said that since the investigation was over, she could be released on bail. The prosecutor opposed the bail petition on the grounds that investigation was not yet over. The judge granted her conditional bail and asked her to sign at the First Judicial Magistrate Court every day at 10 a.m. until further orders.
