Hundreds of candidates in Theni and Dindigul districts, who have applied for the Teacher Eligibility Test, staged a road-roko on the Palani-Dindigul Highway before the Office of the Chief Educational Officer near Vanivilasmedu traffic signal here on Friday, condemning the non-availability of hall tickets on the Teachers’ Recruitment Board website.

Those who did not receive hall tickets through posts and could not download the hall ticket in these districts came to the Dindigul Chief Educational Office to meet the Joint Director (JD) of TRB, Sethurama Varma.

The Joint Director held discussion with the candidates and appealed to them to submit photostat copies of their application for processing.

The JD received 140 photostat copies of applications . Over 100 candidates, mostly women, informed the JD that they did not have photostat copies of the application and have only the bank receipt. The officials expressed their inability to help those who did not have photostat copies.

In a fit of anger, the candidates picketed the main road. Later, the Chief Educational Officer G. Murthy and Dindigul Tahsildar Nataraj held discussions with agitators.

Meanwhile, the JD spoke to the chairman and explained the precarious situation. Later, talking to press persons, he said that he had visited Ramanathapuram, Sivaganga and Madurai districts to assess the situation. Only three applications in the three districts had problems. In Dindigul, 200 applicants had problems, of which 140 candidates had photostat copies. These applications will be processed and hall tickets will be issued to them before next Tuesday, he pointed out.

“We processed roughly 12 lakh applications. About 600 applications were literally blank and such applications were rejected,” he said.

PG teacher exam result

Results of post-graduate teachers examinations held in January will be released within 15 days. Answer keys have already been released on the website, the JD pointed out.

The candidates alleged that the staff in the CEO office did not affix the seal on the application and had affixed the seal only on the bank receipt. So, many applicants had only photostat copies of the bank receipt.

With officials expressing their inability to help candidates without photostat copies, the candidates decided to approach the court for remedy. Traffic was disrupted for more than half an hour on this road.
