TANUVAS to celebrate World Veterinary Year

Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) would have the honour of joining the world in celebrating the World Veterinary Year 2011 to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the veterinary profession.

Talking to reporters in Chennai, University Vice-Chancellor R. Prabhakaran said several programmes have been lined-up to create awareness among the public on the services rendered by the veterinary professionals towards society.

“The veterinarians play an important role in making available nutritious food to the millions of population as well as maintaining the health of companion animals and human beings”, he said, adding, the event would be an effective way to make society realise the importance of the veterinary profession.
