TANUVAS eyes Forest Dept. land

January 29, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:45 am IST - ERODE:

The Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) has reportedly narrowed down on a 50-acre land site owned by the Forest Department for establishing Bargur Cattle Research Station.

Though a few locations on the Bargur hills were examined by university officials, the spots were not suitable either due to remoteness or steepness. According to university sources, a 50-acre land area belonging to the Forest Department in near Bargur was found to be best suited for the research station. In lieu of the land, the district administration was prepared to fulfil norms by transferring double the extent of poromboke land, which was closer to the forested part of the hill.
