Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (Tangedco) has filed with the State regulator pushing for the adoption of a tariff in the range of ₹2.92-₹4 per unit to buy short-term power to meet summer demand.
The State utility will procure 350 MW of round-the-clock power from the North East and in the range of 632-672 MW from the Southern region (Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh) for the period February 1, 2017, to May 15, and has filed a petition with Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission for the tariff.
“We have just filed an adoption petition. We have already got the approval and even called for an electronic tender for the required capacity in December last year. The process will end in another 20 days,” said a Tangedco official.
The power utility had received best price bids of ₹ 2.92-3.15 per unit for the 350 MW round-the-clock power from the North Eastern region. It has received bids for up to ₹4 per unit for a quantum of 672/632 MW from the Southern region.
Tangedco had procured 672 MW power each for February and March 2017. About 632 MW would be procured for April 2017 and May 2017.
