“Tamils in Nepal will be evacuated”

Diplomatic efforts to take stock of the Tamils stranded in Nepal is on and they will be evacuated safely soon, according to Union Minister of State for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Pon. Radhakrishnan.

In a statement released here on Sunday, the Minister said that he was personally taking every effort to identify the stranded Tamils through the Ministry of External Affairs and the consular officials in Kathmandu. The relatives here need not worry about evacuation of their near and dear, he added.

Flays Elangovan

Mr. Radhakrishnan also condemned the “derogatory remarks” made by Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president E.V.K.S. Elangovan against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In another statement, Mr. Radhakrishnan demanded withdrawal of the remarks against the Prime Minister and an apology from Mr. Elangovan.
