Rama Mohana Rao named TN Chief Secretary

First major shuffle of IAS officers since AIADMK was re-elected to power; K. Gnanadesikan appointed CMD of TIDCO.

In a major shuffle of senior bureaucrats, the Tamil Nadu government on Wednesday transferred K. Gnanadesikan and posted P. Rama Mohana Rao as Chief Secretary.

Mr. Rao would also hold full additional charge of Vigilance Comissioner and Commissioner for Administrative Reforms. Mr. Gnanadesikan would be appointed as the chairman and managing director of Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO), according to a GO of the Public Department.

Santha Sheela Nair has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty in the Chief Minister's Office. Following the transfers, K.N. Venkataramanan, Shiv Das Meena, S. Vijayakumar and A. Ramalingam would function as Secretary-I, Secretary-II, Secretary-III and Secretary-IV to the Chief Minister respectively.

The transfers made on Wednesday are the first major shuffle of IAS officers since the AIADMK was re-elected to power in the May 16, 2016 Assembly polls.
