The Assembly, on the last day of the monsoon session on Friday, adopted 23 Bills. Among the Bills approved by the House were those relating to enhancement of retirement age of Vice-Chancellors of various universities and amendments to Cooperative Societies Act including the one to enable admission of members.

One of the Bills related to the amendment of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Act. This would enable constitution of District Committees, comprising scholars, philanthropists and religious-mined persons, to prepare panel of names for appointment of non-hereditary trustees to religious institutions.

To a query raised by K. Balakrishnan (Communist Party of India-Marxist) whether Class ‘B’ members would be made Class ‘A’ members to cooperative societies, Cooperation Minister Sellur K. Raju said all those who fulfilled stipulations could be admitted. The Assembly also adopted Appropriation Bill to meet supplementary grants made by the Assembly for the current year.
