Tamil Nadu announces IPS promotions, transfers

The State government on Tuesday announced the promotion of five Indian Police Service officers from the post of Inspectors General of Police to Additional Directors General of Police. All the five belonged to the 1989 batch.

It also announced the shifting of three police officers from the Greater Chennai police.

An official release said the five officers — P. Kandasamy on study leave promoted without prejudice to his continuance on study leave; Md. Shakeel Akthter, Inspector General of Police, Headquarters, Chennai promoted and posted as Additional Director General of Police, Technical Services, Chennai; Rajesh Das, Additional Commissioner of Police, Law and Order, South Greater Chennai Police, promoted and posted as Additional Director General of Police Social Justice and Human Rights, Chennai in the existing vacancy; Braj Kishore Ravi, Inspector General of Police and Deputy Commandant General, Home Guards, Chennai has been promoted and posted as Additional Director General of Police, Home Guards, Chennai by creating a new post and Kanhu Charan Mahali, Inspector General of Police/Commissioner of Police, Salem City, promoted and posted as Additional Director General of police, Welfare, Chennai in the existing vacancy.

Abhash Kumar, Inspector General of Police, Additional Commissioner of Police, Law and Order, North, Greater Chennai Police, is transferred and posted as Additional Commissioner of Police, Law and Order, South, Greater Chennai Police in the place of Mr. Rajesh Das. A. Amalraj, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Salem Range, is transferred and posted as Deputy Inspector General of Police/Commissioner of Police, Salem in the place of Mr. Kanhu Charan Mahali. V. A. Ravikumar, Inspector General of Police/Additional Commissioner of Police, Headquarters, Greater Chennai Police is transferred and posted as Additional Commissioner of Police, Law and Order, North, Greater Chennai Police in the place of Mr. Abash Kumar.
