The Election Commission has decided to make use of the mobile phone cameras to nab people who distribute money to woo voters.

It will encourage people to lodge complaints about money distribution with photo or video proof on which it will act and ensure punishment for the wrong-doers, Chief Electoral Officer, Praveen Kumar, said.

“Many a time we get general complaints of money distribution without any proof. Before the officials could act and the police party reach the spot, people involved in money distribution disappear from the place. These days everyone has got a mobile phone with cameras. People can clandestinely take photos or videos while money is distributed and lodge the complaint with those proofs,” he said on Friday.

The CEO was here in connection with a day-long training programme for police officials in the ranks of Inspector General of Police, Commissioners of Police, Deputy Inspector General of Police and Superintendent of Police of South and Central zones. Mr. Praveen Kumar said that no official will be allowed to act with a political bias during the election.
