Children now have an opportunity to become “zoo ambassador” of Amirthi Zoo. The forest department is organising a summer camp at the Amirthi Zoological Park for students studying in Class V and above.

The Amirthi Zoo is one of the popular tourist destinations in Vellore district. It currently houses a total of 200 animals, birds and reptiles.

At the summer camp, students will get an opportunity to not only have fun but also learn about nature conservation, animal species, and zoo activities.

On successful completion of the camp, the child will become “zoo ambassador” and will get a “zoo passport” to visit the zoo free for one year – maximum of 10 times.

The summer camp will be held in three batches of 30 children.

The camp will be held for the first batch on April 23 and 24, followed by the second batch on April 30 and May 1. The third batch will be on May 8 and 9. The camp will be held from 9 a.m. To 12.30 p.m.

The registration is open till April 22. Registration fee is ₹300 per child.

The department has asked parents to ensure the safety and transportation of the child.
