MADURAI

Two suspended police constables, A. Ragu and J. Ganeshan attached to Theni Armed Reserve Police, who had attempted self-immolation outside the office of the Director General of Police in Chennai in March, have moved the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court against their suspension and transfer.

Justice R. Suresh Kumar, hearing their petition, sought a reply from the DGP and adjourned the case till June.

The petitioners said they had been targeted with a personal and casteist motive. They termed their transfer mala fide and against the Tamil Nadu Subordinate Service ( Discipline and Appeal) Rules, 1955.

The petitioners said they were transferred from Theni to Ramanathapuram without any reason. They alleged that they were being discriminated against and targeted by their higher authorities.
