April 14, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:34 am IST - Virudhunagar:

A survey of dropout children and differently abled children in the 6-14 age group by Sarva Siksha Abhiyan is under way in Virudhunagar district.

The first spell of the survey that started on April 5 would go till April 28, and the second leg would begin on May 17 and last till May-end, said A. Pugalenthi, Chief Educational Officer (Virudhunagar) and Additional CEO (SSA-Virudhunagar, in-charge).

The survey by block resource teachers-educators, members of self-help groups, schoolteachers and students would begin after the data of school dropouts were collated from schools.

Then the officials would make field visits and verify the data with the parents. The focus would be on dropout children from the families that had migrated. The teams would make a profile of every such child they might come across.

The aim of the survey was to put these dropout children back in classes according to their age, he said.

“These children will undergo special bridge course before being streamlined in regular schools,” said Mr. Pugalenthi.
