Madurai will have a super specialty hospital modelled on the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), at a cost of Rs.150 crore.
Inaugurating a medical symposium, ‘Sri Sathya Sai Total Health Care: A working Model,' here on Saturday, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare S. Gandhiselvan said Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi would inaugurate the Salem super specialty hospital in August.
Readied on the AIIMS model with Rs.100 crore contribution from the Centre and Rs.40 crore from the State, the Salem super specialty hospital would provide high quality health care to the poor.
“The next super specialty hospital will come up in Madurai at a cost of Rs.150 crore,” Mr. Gandhiselvan announced. He lauded health services rendered by Sri Sathya Sai Baba to the poor.
Sri Sathya Sai Organisations' All India president V. Srinivasan said the organisation had an agreement with over 100 hospitals in the State to provide free treatment.
A.N. Safaya, Director, Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences (SSIHMS), gave a talk. Sri Ramachandra University Vice-Chancellor S. Rangaswami, and Sri Sathya Sai Organisations' Tamil Nadu co-ordinator, Krishna Raman, spoke on the occasion.
