Tiruvarur Judicial Magistrate Court on Friday issued summons to DMK president and Tiruvarur MLA M. Karunanidhi to appear before the court on March 7 in connection with a complaint relating to ‘false information’ on the value of some of his property in the nomination papers filed during the Assembly elections in 2011.

Kavitha, Judicial Magistrate, issued the summons on Friday, when she took a case filed by Paramasivam, Revenue Divisional Officer of Tiruvarur, on December 31, 2013. The RDO in his complaint stated that Mr. Karunanidhi had given false information regarding his property in Kattur and Thirunallur near Tiruvarur in the nomination papers.

The complaint was filed under the Representation of the People Act and Section 177 of Indian Penal Code (furnishing false information).
