Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Sunday announced a subsidy of Rs.72.09 crore for 23 deserving Primary Agricultural Co-operative Societies and four District Central Co-operative Banks.

An official release said four co-operative banks in Ramanathapuram, Tirunelveli, Pudukottai and Madurai would get a subsidy of Rs.70.21 crore and 23 co-operative societies Rs.1.88 crore respectively.

This would help the institutions in speedy disbursal of short-term loans, besides restructuring their financial services which would ultimately protect farmers’ welfare, the release said.
