Middle school students from Chandigarh and Mohali have qualified for the ‘A World in Motion’ (AWIM) International Olympics to be held at Detroit later this year.
While the students of Saupins School, Chandigarh emerged as toppers in the JETTOY challenge category at the 8th AWIM National Olympics held at Mahindra Research Valley premises, Mahindra World City, students of Millennium School in Mohali won the Skimmer Challenge category competition.
The AWIM is a teacher administered, volunteer-assisted program to bring science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education programme leading to incorporate the laws of physics, motion, flight and electronics among young minds through age-appropriate hands-on activities.
It was introduced in India by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) in 2007, according to Rajiv Modi, Senior Principal Engineer, MRV and Convener, 8th AWIM National Olympics.
