Members of various organisations and school students staged demonstration in Ichadi on Tuesday demanding the shifting of the TASMAC shop functioning near educational institutions and place of worship.

They said that the TASMC shop is situated in between a church and a government school in total violation of the government norms. A private polytechnic college is also situated a little distance away. They raised slogans urging the district administration to shift the same with immediate effect.

Kailasapandian, union president of the All India Youth Federation (AIYF), led the agitation held in the local bazaar street, which was inaugurated by M. Sasi, Pudukottai district vice president of the National Federation of Indian Women (NFIW).

K. Viduthalaikumaran, district secretary of the AITUC, Balachandran, district secretary of the AIYF, and others spoke highlighting the demand. The agitation was organised jointly by the AIYF and NFIW, in which members of CPI, AITUC, and students of local government school too took part.
