Eighteen students of Government Higher Secondary School, Royakottai, thronged the Krishnagiri Collectorate on Monday demanding proper bus service to their school from 15 villages in and around Royakottai.

Most of these students studying Plus-One, came wearing their school uniform and were the centre of attraction.

They were not aware of the proceedings to air their grievance. Some of the reporters and policemen directed the students in this regard. They immediately wrote a petition and submitted to the Collector. The Collector gave a patient hearing and directed officials of the Transport Department to redress the grievance at the earliest.

The students told The Hindu that the bus services include a town bus route No. 4 operated by the TNSTC at 8 a.m. and 3.30 p.m., a mufussil bus at 4.15 p.m. and 9.30 a.m. and a private bus at 7.30, 12 noon and 8 p.m. Students want more number of buses from Ulagam, Ramapuram, Gettur, Enusonai, Kalukankotai, Singarapattei and Kopakarai.
