Artists and painters at the three-day art exhibition organised by the United Painters’ Association in Tiruchi last week were elated when Maruthi, a noted artist, spoke on the hard realities of their economic status.
“Not many artists are economically sound; however, you should take care of your family members,” he said and explained the ordeals he had undergone during most part of his early career.
The exhibition provided an opportunity to explain the efforts taken by them to other artists from Thanjavur, Karur, and Pudukottai districts. Arul Ganga Gunalan, an artist, explained how she had designed a ceramic painting on the national bird.
She even expressed her preparedness to train interested persons by offering training.
She could be contacted by calling 9444901075. She said that she had been a self-taught artist.
The election held in Tiruchi on Sunday for the post of International Director-Endorsement to the Lions Club International once again proved that the show of strength was inevitable in the service and charitable organisations too. Huge flex boards and banners, some of them outshining flex boards put up by major political parties, dotted several places around the central bus stand, Collector’s Office Road, and St. John’s Vestry Anglo-Indian Higher Secondary School, venue of the election.
Besides the main contestants such as K. Dhanabalan and T.A.S. Ramamurthy, their key supporters put up big flex boards, seeking votes.
The traffic along several arterial roads was affected as the Lions Club members thronged the venue with cars and buses from different parts of Tamil Nadu. As many as 4,800 members participated in the State convention. The police had a tough time to ensure free flow of traffic as about 500 cars were parked along the arterial roads.
