Strongrooms inspected

District Electoral Officer and Collector G. Ragesh Chandra on Thursday inspected the strongrooms at Bharathidasan Government College for Women, where electronic voting machines have been stored.

A release said that the counting of votes would commence at 8 a.m. on May 13. Early trends are expected to be revealed within 60 to 90 minutes of the start of the counting and the process is expected to be completed by 1 p.m. The strongrooms would be monitored continuously till May 13 through CCTV connected to web cameras.

Inspections were being carried out by the returning officers on a daily basis. The release also said that use of electronic gadgets inside the counting halls by contestants and their agents was prohibited. No public rally or procession should be taken out on the day of counting.
