People should keep their surroundings clean to prevent dengue, said Kanyakumari Collector Sajjansingh R. Chavan at the gram sabha meeting held on the premises of Rajakkamangalam panchayat office.
Mr. Chavan asked the residents to ensure that water did not stagnate so as to prevent outbreak of dengue. Unused utensils and plastic pots should be either discarded or kept dry. Unused tyres should be dumped in dustbins as fresh water collecting inside them would aid mosquito breeding, he said.
The Collector urged them to avail the ‘108’ ambulance service for institutional delivery.
Development works to be implemented and the beneficiaries list for Green Houses and other schemes were approved at the meeting . The expenses incurred through the general fund of the panchayat were ratified.
S. Nazeerbabu, Assistant Director, village panchayat, and T. Ramakrishnan, panchayat president, were present.
