A 1.5ft tall stone idol of Nartana Vinayaka in the Palipeedam at the entrance of the Sri Iravatheeswaraswamy temple at Dharasuram near Kumbakonam was found missing on Monday.

Employees of the Archaeological Survey of India which maintains the temple, found the idol missing and lodged a complaint with Kumbakonam Taluk police station.
