An automated teller machine of a nationalised bank was lifted from its premises at Mannivakkam on Thursday night but was abandoned near a bush in the area by culprits as they could not break it open.

According to police, the incident came to light on Friday morning when some persons noticed that the ATM was missing from its place and others found it lying in a bush nearby.

Premises sealed

The Oragadam police rushed to the spot and seized the machine and sealed the premises where it was installed.

Fingerprint experts and a dog squad were deployed to look for clues, police said.
