“Steps will be taken to repair roads”

June 14, 2016 12:00 am | Updated October 18, 2016 02:06 pm IST - NAGERCOIL:

The Nagercoil municipal Chairperson M. Meena Dev said that she would urge the Collector to repair roads within the municipality limits.

Addressing at a council meeting here on Monday, Ms. Meena Dev said that the municipality had re-laid 90 per cent of the roads dug up for the Underground Drainage in Nagercoil. She said repair work of a motor at the water treatment plant would be over by Tuesday.

Efforts were on to buy a new motor, she said.

Speaking at the meeting, councillor Udhayakumari accused that even though the works in the water treatment plants were over, water distribution to residents was yet to be regularised.

Another councillor Sagayaraj appealed to the council to stop implementation of Underground Drainage work for two months, as the elections for the local bodies would be announced soon.

Councillors demanded restoration of roads before the onset of monsoon.
