“Truckers from Tamil Nadu will stop transportation of goods to Kerala from Monday morning. This is to extend our support to the statewide indefinite strike call given by the Kerala State Lorry Owners Federation (KSLOF) to the State Lorry Owners Federation — Tamil Nadu (SLOFTN) on Sunday”, SLOFTN president K. Nallathambi told The Hindu .
He said that truckers in that State have announced the strike opposing the diesel price hike (Rs. 5 per litre) from midnight on Thursday.
The strike has begun a day ahead of the indefinite strike call expected to be given by the All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC) and the Tamilnadu Lorry Booking Agents’ Federation (TLBAF) from Tuesday. “The federation in Kerala has said that truck operators could not get a revised rent that would match the diesel price hike and requested SLOFTN to support them. We have informed all the 123 associations that are attached to SLOFTN to stop truck movement to Kerala to make the strike a successful,” Mr. Nallathambi added.
