“State shielding accused in hotel attack case”

September 04, 2010 09:05 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 10:27 am IST - CHENNAI:

Accusing the Sate Government of shielding those who were behind the attack on a City hotel a few days ago, AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa on Saturday wanted to know why Hansraj Saxena, the CEO of Sun Pictures, was not arrested for his involvement in the incident.

In a statement here, Ms. Jayalalithaa said though the police had arrested a few in connection with the incident after a long delay, it was not able to trace the whereabouts of Mr. Saxena, who she alleged was the main person behind the attack.

“There are reports that the police are shielding Mr. Saxena,” she alleged.

Ms. Jayalalithaa said the hotel was damaged following a tussle between Mr. Saxena and a girl named Deepa over a road accident.

She alleged that the supporters of Saxena assaulted Ms. Deepa's brother and damaged the hotel because the owner is a friend of Deepa's. She also had received death threats.

"Hotel owners and the people are shocked by the incident," she said.

Ms. Jayalalithaa said the Chief Minister who is responsible for maintaining law and order situation in the State should have ordered the arrest of Mr. Saxena.
