Madurai MP and Union Minister M.K. Alagiri has alleged that the State government was not cooperating with him in the implementation of welfare schemes for the public.
“It is distressful for me to meet the public because most of the schemes I bring are curtailed by the State and the district administration. I am not satisfied with the work I have done. I want to do more for my constituency,” said the Union Minister, addressing the media at the public grievance redress office at Melur.
“The government polytechnic college in Melur was established on my efforts. But so far, no chairs and tables have been purchased for the institution. From my next year’s funds, I will purchase furniture for the college”, he said.
According to Mr. Alagiri, he had originally requested former Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee to introduce a Duronto Express between Chennai and Madurai. “I am happy that the bi-weekly Duronto express is introduced in Madurai now. I had also requested for trains on the Madurai-Melur-Tiruppattur route. I will request the incumbent Railway Minister to look into the proposal”, he said.
Cases
Speaking about cases against his son Durai Dhayanidhi, the Union Minister said tht all of them were fabricated with a political motive.
He and his family members were interrogated with the motive of inflicting agony on him. He added that he would not be afraid of facing the cases.
“My son applied for anticipatory bail because he did not do anything wrong. If he had done anything wrong I’d have made him surrender in court,” the Union Minister said.
Denying that his son had gone abroad to avoid the case, he said, “We have surrendered his passport in the court and whoever has any doubts can see it.”
