State level swimming competition begins

A three-day State level swimming competition began at Mahatma Gandhi stadium here on Thursday.

Organised by the Department of School Education, the competition was inaugurated by Collector V. Sampath in which 1,241 students from 32 districts are participating. Students were grouped into three categories - under 14, 17 and under 19.

A total of 94 types of competitions including free fly, free stroke, free style, back stroke, 50 metre, 100 metre and others would be held during the three-day tournament.

Prizes

A total of 390 prizes are to be given to the winners. On Thursday, 24 types of competitions were held and prizes distributed to the winners. The competition is to end on January 30.
