After a gap of eight years, DMK treasurer M.K Stalin and MDMK general secretary Vaiko met each other in this tourist town on Wednesday.

The meeting happened at the marriage reception of former Union Minister Anbumani Ramadoss’s daughter.

Mr. Stalin told The Hindu that when he knew that Mr. Vaiko had come to the wedding, he himself went to the dining hall and greeted the MDMK leader.

“He enquired about our leader [M. Karunanidhi] and other family members. I also enquired about his mother’s and his health,” he said.

Mr. Vaiko told The Hindu on the phone that he was “immensely pleased” to have had a conversation with Mr. Stalin.

“Since he had come to see me, I went till the room entrance to see him off. I am very happy to have met him after a long time,” he said.

It is the beginning of the coming together, it looks. Stalin and Vaiko are travelling by the same flight to Madurai on Thursday to pay homage at the memorial of Muthuramalinga Thevar at Pasumpon.
