Stalin slams Kumaraswamy

Criticises him for calling for a discussion on Cauvery in Parliament

DMK working president M.K. Stalin on Friday accused Karnataka Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy of attempting to divert the Cauvery issue by calling for a discussion in Parliament on the constitution of the Cauvery Water Management Authority.

It was highly condemnable that Karnataka had not nominated its members to the authority even after the Supreme Court’s decisive verdict, Mr. Stalin said, speaking at a wedding ceremony of his party functionaries in Srirangam.

Mr. Kumaraswamy, during a visit to Srirangam Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple, before assuming office, had told the media here that the people of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu were brothers. But he had not displayed any brotherly attitude towards Tamil Nadu on the Cauvery issue, Mr. Stalin said.

Earlier, Mr. Stalin was presented with prasadam from the Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple by a few priests outside the temple at Srirangam.
