DMK working president M.K. Stalin on Thursday sought the ouster of Social Welfare Minister V. Saroja.

In a scathing attack on the AIADMK government, Mr. Stalin said the spate of corruption allegations against it in the recent past was not good for the future generation, and would prevent the growth of the State.

“The people of Tamil Nadu are disappointed at the sad state of affairs with ministers believing that being neck deep in corruption is an achievement,” Mr. Stalin said in a statement.

The DMK leader claimed that many industries which were expected to set shop in Tamil Nadu had gone elsewhere as bribe was being sought from these companies.

Mr. Stalin said the Chief Minister was looking on silently at all these and was not taking any action. “He is not taking any action just to safeguard his post. This is not a good precedent,” he said.

CPI(M)demands probe

The CPI (M) too demanded an inquiry against the minister and sought the institution of the Lok Ayukta in the next Assembly session.

“There are allegations against a number of ministers. A few days ago, there was news that sand mining baron Sekhar Reddy had distributed nearly ₹300 crore to ministers, MLAs and other officials. We demand that this be investigated and action be taken against those involved,” G. Ramakrishnan, State secretary, CPI (M) said.
