Time has come for people to change the rule, said M.K. Stalin, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam treasurer, while campaigning for Anitha R. Radhakrishnan, sitting MLA and candidate for Tiruchendur Assembly constituency.

Kick-starting the campaign at Theradi Thidal in Tiruchendur on Monday, he said there was a big corruption scam over the procurement of freebies, including wet grinders, food mixers and electric fans, during the AIADMK regime and action would be taken against those indulged in the scam if the DMK voted to power.

He asked if Chief Minister Jayalalithaa had visited any district in the State during her five-year tenure.

During the erstwhile DMK regime, TNEB in association with BHEL implemented a project to construct a 1600-megawatt thermal power plant at a cost of Rs.8,000 crore in Udangudi to meet the growing energy demands, but after the AIADMK assumed power, it stopped the project.

The AIADMK had stashed lots of money in all constituencies across the State to bribe the voters fearing loss in the upcoming polls, Mr. Stalin said.

Later, he campaigned for Rani Venkatesan, Congress candidate for Srivaikuntam, P. Geetha Jeevan, sitting MLA and Thoothukudi candidate, S. Beemaraj, DMK candidate for Vilathikulam, K. Krishnasamy, sitting MLA for Ottapidaram (Reserved) and A. Subramanian, DMK candidate for Kovilpatti.
