The Puducherry unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has urged the ruling Congress government to initiate steps to stabilise the fiscal position of the Union Territory.
Talking to reporters here on Friday, V. Saminathan, president of the BJP said that already Puducherry government was facing a financial crisis and instead of appointing non-official chairmen for the Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) in the Union Territory, the government should take strict measures to stabilise the corporations.
Mr. Saminathan charged that Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy had not done anything for the Union Territory even though he held the post of Union Minister for State in the previous United Progressive Alliance (UPA) regime.
He also denied any ulterior motive on the part of the Centre in appointing Kiran Bedi as the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry.
Union Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju and Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers Hansraj Gangaram Ahir will arrive here on June 20 to highlight the two-year achievements of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government at the Centre.
