Sports facilities declared open in Tiruchi

A squash court in Tiruchi district, an indoor auditorium for basketball in the Tiruvannamalai district sports complex, a swimming pool in the Ariyalur complex, sports hostels in Cuddalore and Dindigul and a district sports complex in Karur have been declared open by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.

The cost of construction of the facilities was about Rs. 4.64 crore, according to an official release issued on Thursday.

Besides, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for a swimming pool in Virudhunagar district; a synthetic athletics track at Anna Stadium in Tirunelveli and hostels in Ariyalur, Namakkal, Sivaganga, Theni and Tuticorin districts for young sportspersons and a multi-purpose indoor stadium in Tuticorin, all estimated to cost about Rs. 10.07 crore.
