Speed up projects in Chennai: Chief Minister

Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi on Wednesday advised officials to speed up projects such as the Mass Rapid Transit System, Outer Ring Road and truck terminus to ensure free flow of traffic in Chennai.

Presiding over a meeting to review the projects of Housing and Urban Development Department, he asked officials to take into consideration the views of people while implementing Second Master Plan-2026.

He also wanted them to speed up work on housing quarters for government employees at Pattinapakkam.

While reviewing transferable development rights and special transferable development rights, Mr. Karunanidhi said officials should enlighten the public as well as the developers about these issues.

He suggested constitution of a committee headed by the District Collectors to make recommendation for sale of housing board apartments and plots in various places.
