Special Observer and Cooptex Managing Director T.N. Venkatesh inspected a couple of camps where the process of linking Aadhaar card with the voter ID card issued by the Election Commission of India was underway here on Sunday.

Second in the row, the special camp drew a huge turnout in very many centres since morning. The Election Commission had instructed the officials to receive the Aadhaar card particulars and link them with the voter ID card.

As part of implementing it, 1,807 polling stations in the district were open, where the officials and field staff collected forms from the general public.

Likewise, the Collector V. Rajaraman toured some of the centres in Sivakasi and neighbouring pockets and cross-checked with the voter list at random, a release said.

In Arupukottai Al-Ameen HSS, Sri Sowdambika Engineering College and among other centres, the linking of the two documents was in process.

Utilising the special camp, the public also filed in separate forms for inclusion of their names in the voter list.

Apart from this, there were separate forms for making amends to the voter list. For instance, change of name, deletion of name, change in address et al were also entertained during the camp, the release added.
