Special medical teams formed to monitor villages in Denkanikottai

After the first case of Zika virus was diagnosed on a 27-year-old man from a village in Krishnagiri, who was eventually treated, the district administration has formed eight special teams to monitor seven villages in Denkanikottai.

Speaking to The Hindu , Collector C. Kathiravan said the teams consisting of a medical officer, health inspector, village health nurses have been formed and each provided with a medical van. The teams are working jointly with MNREGS workers and mazdoors for mass cleaning, bleaching and fumigation works in about seven villages.

The teams will focus in N.Pudur, Natrampalayam, Nanjalthunai, Thadhikandanur, Vanjinathapuram, Poomarathukuli and Attapalli. Deputy Director, Health Services, Priya, said that samples were being taken on patients having fever and all had tested negative.
