Special camps today to enrol new voters

Rita Harish Thakkar, Election Commissioner Observer, held discussion with the representatives of political parties on the preparation of draft electoral rolls at the Collectorate here on Saturday.

Collector Rohini R. Bhajibhakare participated in the meeting.

The draft electoral rolls were released on October 3 and the work of preparing the new rolls commenced the same day.

The campaign for the enrolment of new voters, who had completed 18 years of age on January 1, 2018, will be continued till October 31.

Besides the enrolment of new voters, the work of deleting the existing names, correction and change from constituency to the other will also be done during this period.

Special camps will be held in all the polling booths on Sunday for the receipt of fresh applications from new voters and for other services.

Last date

The applications for the enrolment of new voters will be received till October 31 and a new draft electoral rolls will be released later.

Ms. Rita Harish Thakkar said that all effective steps would be taken to prepare an accurate draft electoral rolls.

G. Venkatachalam, A. B. Sakthivel, P. Manonmani, A. Marudamuthu and G. Chitra, all AIADMK MLAs, Kalaiamuthan of DMK and representatives of other political parties participated in the meeting.
