Special camps for voter enrolment, deletion of names and corrections were held in polling booths across Kanyakumari district on Sunday.

Principal Secretary to Election Commission of India (ECI) R.K. Srivastava and Collector Sajjansingh R. Chavan inspected the exercise at St. Antony’s Higher Secondary School in Kanyakumari. The Collector also inspected the exercise at Seighuthambi Pavalar Higher Secondary School at Edalakudi near Nagercoil.

People waited for over three hours at a booth in Vadalivilai as the booth-level officer arrived late.

Mr. Chavan said that the ECI gave instructions to identify the mistakes, leftover names etc., with the coordination of Booth Level Agents.

Another special camp would be held on February 6 (Saturday) in all the booths. Mr. Chavan appealed to the public to cooperate with the authorities to prepare a fool-proof poll roll.

Revenue Divisional Officer S. Madhiyazhagan, Agasteeswaram Tahsildar Murthy and Special Tahsildar (Elections) Arul Arasu accompanied the Collector.
