A marathon run was organised to mark the inauguration of the ‘Digital India Week’ at the Collector’s Office here on Friday. Collector E. Vallavan flagged off the run in which a large number of students, volunteers of various organisations participated.

S. Ramamurthy, Karaikal District NSS Coordinator, and Visweswaramurthy, NSS Programme Officer, participated.

Earlier, Mr. Vallavan said that the district administration had adopted e-service at various departments.

For instance, the Revenue Department has been issuing patta and settlement records using e-governance principle.

Special camp for National Electoral Roll Purification and Authentication Programme would be held on July 5 at all the polling booths in the district. He has appealed to the voters to register the details of their Aadhaar cards, e-mail ID and colour photo in the electoral roll. The camp would be held between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. He said that applications for inclusion and deletion of names and effecting corrections would be entertained at the camp.

Painting competition

The Collector said that a painting competition would be held on Monday. Patta and settlement documents would be issued at the taluk office on that day.

On July 7, a debate on ‘impact of e-learning on students’ will be held at Polytechnic College in Karaikal.

All government departments would display details of e-governance service at their offices so that the beneficiaries could get the services without any hitch, he added.
