The Salem Railway division on Thursday made special arrangements at the railway junction here for the onward journey of passengers who travelled in the coach of the Chennai–Palani Express that derailed near Dasampatti.

The 70-odd passengers of the ill-fated compartment arrived at Salem Junction by the New Delhi–Tiruv-ananthapuram ‘Kerala Express’. Immediately on their arrival, the passengers were given medical treatment.

A team of officials, led by M. Shajahan, Assistant Commercial Manager, provided breakfast to all of them. Later, passengers from Namakkal and Karur left by the Salem–Karur passenger. The Chennai–Palani Express arrived at the Salem Junction at 9.10 a.m. and food was provided to the passengers.
