Sonia to address election rally in Puducherry on April 5

Congress President Sonia Gandhi will address an election rally on April 5 here to garner support for the Congress-DMK alliance in the Union Territory.

Speaking to reporters here, Union Minister of State for Planning and Prime Minister’s office V Narayanasamy said AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi and Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee would also campaign for alliance candidates on April 7 and 9 respectively.

Congress is contesting in 17 out of total 30 seats in the Union Territory while DMK its main ally in 10. The Pattali Makkal Katchi will contest two seats and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi one.

The Union Territory, which has a total of 30 assembly seats spread over Puducherry (23), Karaikal (five), Mahe and Yanam (one each), will go for polls on April 13.
